The Scale Tool can be used to scale a layer, selection, path or image, depending on the Transform setting.
When you click on your image with the Scale tool, the Scale dialog is opened, allowing to change the Width and Height. When the chain icon is closed, adjustments to one, will adjust the other value the same percentage. If you do not want this, click the chain icon to disable the synchronization. The default size is in pixels, which can be changed in the measurement drop-down list besides the chain icon.
At the same time a Preview (unless disabled in the Tool Options) is superimposed on the object and handles appear on the corners and borders that you can click and drag to change the dimensions. At the center, a square with a cross inside can be used to move the preview.
There are different possibilities to activate the tool:
From the main menu: → → .
By clicking the tool icon
in the Toolbox.
By pressing the Shift+S keyboard shortcut.
Holding the Shift key down will toggle the Keep aspect option.
Holding the Ctrl key down will toggle the Around center option.
Normally, tool options are displayed in a window attached under the Toolbox as soon as you activate a tool. If they are not, you can access them from the main menu through → → which opens the option window of the selected tool.

To scale a path, please refer to Transforming path.
Quando você move um dos cantos da moldura de seleção, esta opção vai restringir a escala de redimensionamento de forma que a proporção de Altura/Largura da camada fique constante. Assim sua camada não vai ficar esticada ou muito alta. Ela não faz nada se você redimensionar a camada por uma das alças no meio dos lados da seleção (nas bordas) - só se redimensiona por uma das alças dos cantos. O GIMP assume que se você estica um dos lados da seleção você realmente quer deformar a imagem. Essa opção também é refletida no ícone de corrente que víncula os valores de Largura e Altura no diálogo da ferramenta.
When this option is enabled, you can scale from center, radially if “Keep aspect” is checked, else vertically or horizontally.
Aqui, você pode configurar a Largura e a Altura desejadas para o objeto. A unidade de medidas padrão é o pixel. Você pode muda-la usando a lista flutuante. Esses valores são atualizados automaticamente quando você arrasta as alças na própria janela de imagens. Se o ícone de corrente ligando a largura e a altura estiver aberto, você pode modificar cada valor de forma independente.
With this button, available since GIMP 2.10.10, you can reset the transform handles back to the original square shape, while keeping the current transformation and zoom level. This enables you to create more complex transformations by making the transformation in several steps.
